i'm pretty sure after head to head and conference it goes by common opponents, where the bengals are 2-1 and the pats are 1-1. but that'll change next week as the pats play the texans and the bengals play the jets.

If the Broncos and Jets lose, it looks like the Ravens and Steelers could wind up being the wild cards.
You know, it really doesn't matter though. I don't see any of these teams beating the Patriots or Bengals.
If my wish list happens it will be Ravens @ Bengals, Steelers @ Patriots. I could see both of those games going either way. I'd much rather play the Bengals if I had the choice though. That's far from an option.
TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken. 1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker. 2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps. Two Clubs 1. Head-to-head, if applicable. N/A 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. Tied with 7-4 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. Tied with 2-2 4. Strength of victory. I don't know what's the thing but last time I checked the Patriots and a 2 game lead on this one 5. Strength of schedule. 6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best net points in conference games. 9. Best net points in all games. 10. Best net touchdowns in all games. 11. Coin toss. **********Automerged Doublepost********** you said the Bengals were 2-1 while the Pats 1-2? The Common games we share are Houston, Denver, Jets, and Ravens Patriots play Houston next week, while the Bengals play the Jets next week We both lost to Denver We beat the Ravens Twice and they beat the Ravens They beat and lost to the Jets Patriots Jets 1-1 Baltimore 1-0 Houston N/A Denver 0-1 Bengals Jets N/A Baltimore 2-0 Houston 0-1 Denver 0-1
Wait, no. The Jets and Texans don't count at all since they're not common opponents yet. Therefore Patriots are 1-1 (beat Ravens, lost to Broncos), and the Bengals are 2-1 (Beat Ravens twice, lost to Broncos).
Now, the Patriots automatically will be 2-2 once the Bengals play the Jets, and the Bengals automatically will be 2-2 once the Patriots play the Texans. So if both teams have the same record next week, it will come down to strength of schedule, which I hate. But as it stands now, the Bengals are the three, even though it means nothing at this point. We don't know who the 5 and 6 will be anyway.

The only team we have the tie breaker over is the Broncos, So I fully expect the Ravens to get one of the wildcards. Outside of that Steelers need to win, Jets and Texans need to lose. Doesn't matter what the Broncos do.
Thanks for including the teams that are eliminated... It's always nice to see the Chiefs in print... :icon_lol:
so, if all five 8-win teams win next week and finish 9-7, it will be the jets and ravens in the playoffs. the steelers need three of the other four 8-win teams to lose next week in order to sneak in ............... it's possible i guess. the really weird thing is that if 4 of the 5 eight-win teams lose and jacksonville wins, then jacksonville makes the playoffs .......................... it's a long shot but they're still in it.
Yes, If Jets lose to the Patriots, and the Ravens lose to the Raiders. Meanwhile the Texans have to beat New England and the Steelers have to beat Miami. The Texans may also need the Broncos to lose to the Chiefs.
