Pippen Says Lebron Could Be Better Than Jordan

Scottie Pippen had a front-row seat to watch Miami's LeBron James help oust the Chicago Bulls from the playoffs, and the Hall of Famer believes James might supplant Pippen's former running mate Michael Jordan as the greatest player ever.

"Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to play the game," Pippen said Friday on "Mike & Mike In The Morning" on ESPN Radio. "But I may go as far as to say LeBron James may be the greatest player to ever play the game because he is so potent offensively that not only can he score at will but he keeps everybody involved.

Stephen A. Smith just ripped Pippen a new one on Sportscenter earlier. Rightfully so, it's ok for an analyst or someone to claim this (even though they have no ground to stand on). But how can Pippen say this of all people?? MJ is the only reason you got 1 let alone 6 rings Scottie.

No crap. If Scottie didn't have Jordan there's no rings, and there's no way he'd be listed as a top 50 player of all time. Lebron is a great player but there's no way he's better than Jordan.

If we didn't comment on people's opinions there wouldn't be much point in having a forum.

I didn't say you can't form your opinions but Scottie is only ONE guy...just because he played with Jordan and won rings doesn't mean he has no experience in looking at talent, that's my point...I've also heard that without Scottie and the others Jordan may not have been able to win all those championships either regardless of the fact that Jordan forever palmed the ball and traveled all the time which the refs chose to ignore.

Jordan didn't win until Pippen was there...hmmmmmm

I don't think so Smeag, the Bulls have 6 championships and got to the playoffs this year, that's it.

10. The Bulls advanced to the conference semi-finals in 1994 and could've very well advanced to the NBA Finals to try to win their fourth straight title but lost to the Knicks in 7 games.

Stephen A. pointed out that the Bulls were robbed by the refs in that series and should've faced the Houston Rockets....not the Knicks.

The thing about LeBron......Jordan didn't hightail it when they couldn't get over the hump in the mid to late 80's.

Chicago added talent around MJ and eventually won 6 championships. Only Kobe Bryant deserves any Jordan comparisons.

@RealSkipBayless Once again Scottie Pippen is getting far more attention than deserves because of the man who was far best thing ever happened to Pippen - MJ

Because Kobe never thought about bolting from the Lakers between the Shaq & Gasol era's :icon_rolleyes:.

Only difference is that the Lakers have given (or at least attempted) Kobe number two's, Cleveland supplied LeBron with a broken down, injury prone Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Moe Williams...

LBJ at worst is self-indulgent and egotistical, Kobe is a rapist scumbag who is every inch the pr**k that the media make out LeBron to be.

Being a rapist scumbag and a pr**k doesn't affect Kobe's play on the court. Whats the need to bring that into the conversation? Lets be honest, Jordan wasn't any angel either. Maybe not a "rapist," but far from an angel.

BigBlueBruiser Stephen A says the refs are to blame so it must be so???? Give me a break. The thing about LeBron, Cleveland gave up everything for LeBron so they could never give him a "Scotty Pippen" of his own so he left, no way anyone can fault someone for that, he wants to win. BBB, Smeag was asking if the Bulls got to the "finals" not semi-finals without MJ and only in 2011 did the Bulls do that.

True dat andy82...

Exactamundo Omen......all this MJ made Pippen and Pippen shouldn't be talking that LeBron is better.....MJ needed Pippen as his #2 and both MJ & Pippen got paid in rings for Pippens services, MJ didn't win squat until Pippen came to the Bulls, that point is obvious and really, does it matter if Pippen thinks one player is better than another? Really??

You mad that it wasn't you he raped? That has crap to do with anything. gtfo.

Even when They gave Lebron, Jamison, and they had Mo Williams that last season, still didn't do anything. The Cavs attempted to give Lebron help, but it was always over-aged talent like Shaq, or guys who was suppose to be good and never panned out, and they would take them off another teams hands. But as Kobe proved between Shaq and Gasol, Your team is only as good as you make them to be. I can remember Kobe taking all the flack about being a ball hog, we got to play PHX in the Playoffs, and got up 3 games to 1, because Kobe had been a ball hog all season, and when the playoffs came, he made Kwame Brown look decent, Which is hard to do. No team is going to have role players if their superstars don't trust them. If MJ wouldn't have been a bull, no one would know who the heck Luc Longley, Tony Kukoc, Jud Buechler, Bill Wennington, Or Will Perdue. We'd of known of Scottie, and possibly Steve Kerr, because he was lights out shooting. But the star player, always has to make his team mates better. That's all it is. If not, theyre going to get to the playoffs, and fail hard.

Or In Lebron's case, The Finals... and then not want to score 40 a game. Lebron can be as good in Jordan at some things, but all around, on the court, the way Jordan handled himself, in every manner when it came to playing the game of basketball, Kobe, Nor Lebron will ever be that. Even if they get 7 rings. If we do it like that, Robert Horry > Any player from the 90's - now.

Mo Williams get the heck out of here.. Quit being a damn hater.

Comparing Jordan being loyal to Chicago and LeBron to Cleveland is apples and oranges. They brought in Pippen and Rodman for Jordan as well as the greatest international player of all-time back then in Toni Kukoc. LeBron got Mo Williams (lmao), Anderson Varejao, and Sasha Pavlovic.

MJ and LeBron are at totally different stages in their careers at this point in LeBron's. How so? When did Jordan win his first title? When he was 27 after 7 years in the league. What was Jordan doing until he got that? Struggling to win it mostly by himself.

Sound familiar? If anything, LeBron is a little ahead by taking his team to the Finals a couple years back.
