Quarterback Tony Romo has tabled negotiations on a contract extension with the Cowboys until the season is over so the process won’t become a distraction.

The Cowboys recently reached out to Romo’s representatives at Creative Artists Agency, owner Jerry Jones said, in regard to a contract extension.

“We talked. We thought he had an interest and he knows we have an interest,†Jones said. “But he wants to just concentrate on the season.â€

Jones said there is no open dialogue right now between the Cowboys and Romo’s representatives about a contract extension.

“We’re not doing anything on the contract right now,†Jones said. “We just haven’t done anything on it. He’s just concentrating on right now, this year, what he’s doing on the field.

“We’re fine with that, too. He’s not going anywhere.â€

Romo recently switched agents at CAA from Ken Kremer to R.J. Gonser.

Romo, 32, is signed through the 2013 season, but the Cowboys would like to extend his contract sooner rather than later to help them free up some salary cap space.

This could end up costing Romo.

Fans may finally start holding him accountable for the endless string of mediocre seasons should this be yet another and won't want to see him resigned.

Because there aren't 52 other guys on the team. Romo is the one that costs the Cowboys EVERY loss they've had since 2003. The 60+ losses...all on Romo...lol.
