Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network believes that the Panthers should be willing and prepared to trade RB DeAngelo Williams before the trade deadline.

Lombardi mentions that the Panthers, after getting off to a 1-5 start, should start thinking ahead for next season.

With Tuesday’s deadline approaching, the Panthers have an opportunity to trade for draft picks while getting rid of Williams large salary. Carolina already has plenty of depth in their backfield, so it remains a possibility that they could part with one of their two starting running backs.

Williams has been struggling to produce this season (177 yards, 2 TD’s on 50 carries) and should at least be considered a potential trade option.
