Jason Campbell's one start for the Chicago Bears in 2012- a 32-7 debacle against the San Francisco 49ers in which Campbell was sacked six times- did not exactly inspire confidence among the Bears faithful. Without Campbell, however, the Bears have almost nothing to protect them from disaster if an injury-prone Jay Cutler goes down again. From that perspective it is maybe not surprising that the Bears are pushing hard to re-sign Campbell according to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times. Campbell does provide veteran leadership in the locker room and more insurance than most other options in a weak free agent back-up QB market. With Matt Moore signing a two-year deal to stay with the Miami Dolphins today and a week QB draft class, Campbell has become an attractive and relatively inexpensive option. he will likely get multiple offers if allowed to hit the open market.
