The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with former Lions linebacker Justin Durant according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Schefter reports that the deal will not become official until the cash-strapped Cowboys can clear some more cap space. Recent estimates have the team with barely $100,000 in cap room. Coming off a 103-tackle campaign for the Lions, Durant will book-end Bruce Carter on the outside, leaving Sean Lee to man the middle. Pro Football Focus graded Durant as the 18th best 4-3 linebacker in the NFL last season.

How can they agree to sign a player when they don't have the money to pay him? This sounds illegal to me. I bet John Mara is on the phone to Roger Goodell even as we speak. The rat fink.:icon_frown:

Contracts can be written and signed but don't have to be turned into the league until. June 1 if I'm not mistaken.

    All teams do this.
