The 49ers have released defensive end Demarcus Dobbs his agent, Andy Simms, confirmed this afternoon. Dobbs was inactive for the first time this year on Sunday, which seemed to forcecast today’s move. The transaction opens up a roster spot and, perhaps more importantly, it opens the door for young defensive linemen Quinton Dial and Tank Carradine to start getting more playing time. Dial played a handful of snaps in Sunday’s loss to the Rams.
