The 49ers have released defensive end Demarcus Dobbs his agent, Andy Simms, confirmed this afternoon. Dobbs was inactive for the first time this year on Sunday, which seemed to forcecast today’s move.

The transaction opens up a roster spot and, perhaps more importantly, it opens the door for young defensive linemen Quinton Dial and Tank Carradine to start getting more playing time. Dial played a handful of snaps in Sunday’s loss to the Rams. Carradine has yet to see any significant playing time despite being a high draft pick -- no. 40 overall -- in last year’s draft.

Aaron Lynch has been really good, once Aldon comes back it's going to be hell on opposing olines. And Tank is still making too many mistakes to get any pt still

Aaron Lynch must have done some growing. I remember hating him at ND because of his immaturity.

But honestly, can you really knock a 19 year old kid that much for maturity
