The possibility exists that Green Bay Packers safety Morgan Burnett won't play next week so he can use the bye week to make sure his injured hamstring is completely healed.

The Packers held Burnett out for a second straight week despite his taking part in practice in a limited fashion all three days. They functioned far better in the secondary in a 38-20 victory over Washington than they did in Week 1 against San Francisco, so a decision could be made not to press him into action.

"He's just not ready," coach Mike McCarthy said. "Not quite there. I don't know about this week, either."

Burnett said he couldn't say for sure he would play against Cincinnati

"We don't know yet," Burnett said. "We're taking it one day at a time and seeing the progression each time. It's getting better. The only thing we can do is keep treating it and keep getting it better."
