Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports Bill Parcells is certain to remain retired and not serve as the Saints' interim head coach according to sources. While there has been minimal communication between the Saints and Parcells in the past week, a source said that Parcells indicated to Payton in a recent conversation that he preferred to remain retired. Parcells has not coached since 2006 when he finished a four-year stint with the Dallas Cowboys.

the only thing about promoting within is that it will take away from their regular duties. Spags needs to install some of his defense, Pete needs to concentrate on the offense.
