The much talked-about Branden Albert trade between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins turned out to be a lot of just that -- talk. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday on "NFL Total Access" that both parties now view an Albert trade as "dead," according to several sources involved in the process. The Chiefs now will focus on locking up the offensive tackle with a long-term contract. The source said the Dolphins only offered a third-round pick for Albert, not the 54th overall pick in the second round as previously thought. The Chiefs wouldn't budge in their asking price. Word now is that they hope Albert signs his franchise tag tender, so he'll play LT and Fisher plays RT. That's right, your #1 overall pick, a RT. Between that and the Alex Smith trade, I don't know what's dumber.
Well no one wants to sign s guy and dole out s big fat butt contract with a huge signing bonus. If he were under contract for another year or two it might be a different story.
reid said during a radio interview yesterday that albert will in fact be the LT and fisher will be the RT. It may only last 1 year though if the chiefs just let him play with the tag and then let him walk. And, also, word is that the phins were only offering a 3rd round pick for albert.
