The NFL regular season comes to a close this weekend, just in time for bowl season to heat up. We had two bowl games yesterday, three today, four Saturday and then after NFL Sunday we get into the thick of the New Years week bowls. That also means NFL mock drafts are continuing to pick up some steam. I updated our mock draft database, and wide receiver and cornerback remain the most frequently picked positions. This carried over into Dan Kadar's latest SB Nation mock draft. He has the 49ers selecting Penn State wide receiver Allen Robinson: The run on receivers continues with the 49ers taking another shot at a wideout late in the first round. Unlike A.J. Jenkins, whom the 49ers unwisely took in 2012, Robinson is a big-play receiver who would complement Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin well. Robinson seems like a guy who is a fringe day one prospect who will need to use the Combine and his Pro Day workout to boost his stock over the top. Back in November, Mel Kiper projected him as a second or third round pick, while Todd McShay did not include him in his recent first round mock. I'd love to hear more about what people think of Robinson. Also, one reference tool to add to your draft content review would be Poldarn's consensus big board. He looked at five big boards and came up with a consensus. Allen Robinson showed up at No. 38 on the big board. He is No. 6 among wide receivers. Nick Chiamardas put together his own wide receiver rankings a few weeks back. He had Robinson as the No. 6 wide receiver.
