Al Golden to remain as Miami coach

    Miami coach Al Golden said Sunday he is not a candidate for any other job, ending days of silence and speculation about his future with the Hurricanes.

    Golden's statement did not specifically mention Penn State, his alma mater, which reportedly targeted him as a top candidate to replace Bill O'Brien as coach. University officials had no other immediate comment, though athletic director Blake James said throughout the process he was confident Golden would remain with the school.

    "He's staying," James said Sunday.

    Golden is 22-15 in three seasons at Miami, with much of that time coming while the Hurricanes were dealing with an NCAA investigation concerning the actions of a former booster. That saga ended midway through this past season, when Miami finished 9-4 and began luring a recruiting class that is widely expected to be among the top 10 nationally.
