Eagles coach Andy Reid was reluctant to speak at his regular Wednesday press briefing about his decision to release the former second-round pick Tuesday, was much more forthcoming later in the day, Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com reports. Reid, speaking to two writers in greater detail about Jarrett, took sole responsibility for the pick and blamed himself for the wasted second-round choice. “That’s my responsibility,†he said. “I mis-evaluated that [pick].†Jarrett played in just 13 games for the Eagles, the fewest by any Eagles second-round pick since 1994 pick defensive tackle Bruce Walker was released before playing a single game. Reid said as hard as it is to let go of a player drafted that high, it’s worse to keep him around when it’s clear he won’t be contributing. “I think one of the key things is when you make a mistake, for your system, that you correct it,†he said. “And you can’t let your ego get in the way of that.
