The Bears released veteran safety Tom Zbikowski on Sunday in advance of the trimming of their roster to 75 players by Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline, according to a source familiar with the situation. Zbikowksi signed a one-year deal in the offseason with the Bears after starting 11 games for the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. He entered the NFL in 2008 as a third-round draft choice of the Baltimore Ravens following a distinguished collegiate career at Notre Dame. Zbikowski went on to play four years (2008-2011) in Baltimore and carved out a role as one of the Ravens' special teams standouts and a dependable reserve safety. Zbikowski saw action in the second half of the Bears' preseason victory over the Oakland Raiders on Friday night but received limited reps throughout training camp. Source: ESPN.com
