Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports Bears receiver Johnny Knox was undergoing back surgery as of noon Monday and is out for the remainder of the season, coach Lovie Smith confirmed. Smith expressed optimism about Knox's football future. "He has been in surgery to stabilize his vertebrae," Smith said. "He's out, of course, this year. But just looking to the future, it looks bright for him, of course, to play and to get back out there. So we're encouraged by that."
