Bengals Release FS Chris Crocker

    The Cincinnati Bengals announced the release of veteran safety Chris Crocker on Friday. A third round pick out of Marshall by the Cleveland Browns, the 32-year-old Crocker has 476 tackles, 13 sacks, 10 interceptions and 48 passes defensed during an eight-year career with the Browns (2003-05), Atlanta Falcons (2006-07), Miami Dolphins (2008) and Bengals. Crocker joined the Bengals during the 2008 season and has started 44 of 46 games over the three-plus seasons. Crocker started all 16 games and played in 95 percent of the defensive snaps last season, totaling 61 tackles and had a career-high 3.5 sacks. Crocker was scheduled to earn $1.917 million in base salary with a $100,000 workout bonus in 2012, the final year of his current contract, his release will clear $2.017 million in cap space.
