Bills rookie cornerback Ron Brooks had foot surgery on Thursday and is out indefinitely, head coach Chan Gailey informed reporters on Saturday. The injury occurred prior to the team's pre-season finale when Brooks was stepped on by a teammate during practice.

Brooks, the second of the Bills' two fourth-round draft picks this past April, is currently a part of the team's 53-man roster. The timeline for his return is unclear, but Gailey did not rule out the new IR rule in which a player can be recalled to the active roster for six weeks as an option for Brooks. Teams can't place a player on IR with that designation until September 4.
