Fire striker Cuauhtemoc Blanco announced his retirement from the Mexican national team Wednesday before a World Cup qualifying match against Canada. According to the Mexican Soccer Federation president, Justino Compean, Blanco notified the team late Tuesday night and has refused to give more details.Blanco, 35, was used as a reserve in Mexico's last two matches, against Honduras and Jamaica. As much as I hated the guy when he played for Club America, I'll miss him in the NT. He's got the kind of swagger needed to overcome a score deficit.
But older than Blanco and way past his prime. I'll miss the midget. He could play at a great level. He saved us back in 2001 when he came back from a shattered ACL and led the team to the World Cup. He is a freaking warrior!!
