Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is standing by his embattled general manager.

Haslam told a gathering of reporters on Wednesday that he fully supports Ray Farmer despite the league's investigation into reported allegations that the GM texted his staff on the sideline during games this past season, per Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer.

Haslam said Farmer addressed the team to apologize for his mistake.

"It does not affect his standing with the Browns," Haslam said.

The Browns owner took further issue with CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora labeling the franchise dysfunctional and "toxic," saying, "We work extremely well together."

Haslam refused to criticize Farmer, but the combative relationship between Cleveland's front office and some of the team's coaches reportedly played a major role in the departure of offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who lobbied hard to make a lateral move to join the Atlanta Falcons.

    More from Haslam:

    1. "It's way too early to give up on Johnny," the Browns owner said when asked if the organization still believes in first-round quarterback Johnny Manziel, who checked himself into treatment before the Super Bowl.

    2. The Browns have talked about eventually relocating training camp, but Haslam confirmed the team will again work out in Berea this summer.

My old man used to say "The fish stinks from the head down" when talking about large corporations that fail. He didn't know he was speaking about the future Cleveland Browns.

The funny thing is that ownership, management, coaching staff, office staff, players...they all change. Through all the changes and controversy, the Browns are still the Browns!
