Ken Whisenhunt said he isn’t sure if Kevin Kolb will be healthy enough to return to the starting lineup for this Sunday’s game at the New York Jets but if he can’t play, rookie Ryan Lindley will remain the Cardinals’ starting quarterback.
“Until he’s healthy, I don’t know where we’re going to be until that point,†the Cardinals head coach said Monday, a day after Arizona’s 31-17 loss to the visiting St. Louis Rams.

Asked if Kolb can’t play, would he stick with Lindley, Whisenhunt said: “For this week? Yes. Yeah, we’ll stay with Ryan.â€

Lindley was 31 of 52 for 312 yards and was intercepted four times in his first NFL start. Two of the interceptions were returned for touchdowns by Rams rookie cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

“You can’t have those interceptions, but in the first half, I thought he did a real nice job,†Whisenhunt said. “He moved in the pocket, was decisive, managed it, made some good throws. We had three scoring drives in the first half.â€

Whisenhunt said Lindley was “torn up†after the game because of the interceptions but added the question moving forward will be how he responds.

“There was nobody more torn up about what happened then he was. He was very upset about that. You can’t give the game away with mistakes like that, but you understand with a young player … they make mistakes.â€
