San Diego Chargers running back Curtis Brinkley appears to be winning the job of backing up running back Ryan Mathews. Brinkley practiced with the second team during the Chargers first OTA on Tuesday and he played well in limited opportunities last season.“If you go in and play and have success, that is how you earn more opportunities,†coach Norv Turner said. “I think Brinkley (has) earned those (opportunities).†Brinkley will be filling the void left by running back Mike Tolbert who was signed by the Carolina Panthers.
