Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins left training camp Sunday to have his right shoulder examined by Dr. James Andrews, according to Josh Ellis of the team's official site. Jenkins is on the mend from offseason shoulder surgery. He reported to the start of Cowboys training camp last month, but he hasn't been cleared to play and the team isn't sure when he'll return to the field. The 2008 first-round draft pick went public with his desire for a new contract, which expires after this season and will pay him a base salary of $1.052 million. The Cowboys have invested millions into their rebuilt defensive backfield and aren't rushing to hand Jenkins a new deal. The front office dangled him as trade bait in the offseason, but nothing came of it.
