With free agency set to kick off in six hours, the Dolphins are expected to re-sign veteran quarterback Chad Pennington, a league source said. A deal isn't yet in place and Pennington is set to become a free agent at midnight, but "barring something crazy" he will be back in Miami, the source said. Pennington, who turns 34 on June 26, continues to recover from season-ending right shoulder injury in Week 3 at San Diego, but he wants to return to Miami, the source said, and the Dolphins have been interested in bringing him back. "We've talked to Chad on a number of different avenues," GM Jeff Ireland said last week at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. "I don't want to reveal my cards as far as my off-season plans, but I like Chad a lot. He's a leader." Source: Palm Beach Post
