Eagles QB Donovan McNabb To San Francisco?

Without Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner around, it's a wide-open field for quarterback Alex Smith and the 49ers, though they haven't done anything since their 8-8 finish in 2009 except watch their weak division practically run out of workable quarterbacks and Smith hasn't automatically been guaranteed that will be the starter in 2010. Why not check with the Philadelphia Eagles and see what it would take to pry loose Donovan McNabb, would it cost a second-round pick or more? The 49ers' history is that they win big when they have an elite quarterback, and that is probably not Smith's destiny and even if it is, they could easily keep Smith around to back up McNabb. said 49ers beat writer Tim Kawakami

That said, this makes the most sense of all of this pointless babble I've been hearing. They shouldn't trade him to an immediate contender like Minnesota or Arizona and while San Fran is heading in the right direction, they aren't there yet.
