Arthur Blank says he wants the Falcons to continue to play home games downtown. However, the owner and team officials have explored a number of sites in metro Atlanta to build a new stadium. In addition to discussions with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority about a new stadium, five sites are currently under consideration by the team.

atlanta is a horrible 'sports' town in general. they should probably move the stadium to the suburbs. it might help.

ATLiens actually love the Falcons. As for the others? Not sure.

It's just that the history is not long there, hard to reel in lifetime fans when you're constantly losing. The suburbs of ATL don't have too many sites big enough to host the Falcons.

good point about the land available. they would need a crapload of land for a new site.

and yes, i know the nfl is the most popular sport there but, at this point, the nfl could probably survive in paducah, kentucky ................... hell, at this point, if jacksonville can keep it's team while covering up 20,000 seats with tarps to make it look like a 'sellout', then atlanta will be fine.

the revenue sharing in this league from the national tv contracts makes every team profitable even if their local tv ratings are crappy and they aren't selling much merchandise.
