Falcons defensive end John Abraham, who suffered a sprained left ankle against Tampa Bay in the regular season finale, will practice on Wednesday, head coach Mike Smith said on Monday.

“John Abraham will be participating in practice on Wednesday,â€￾ Smith said. “We will have almost the full boat, but we won’t have everybody there.â€￾

Abraham suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the 22-17 loss to Tampa Bay. He reached down for his ankle after defensive tackle Peria Jerry fell on top of him.

Abraham leads the Falcons with 10 sacks.

Cornerback Christopher Owens, who has a hamstring injury, is not expected to practice.

“As a coach, you want everybody out there for every practice, but you have to rely on the doctors and the trainers in terms of when they are going to be released to go out on the field,â€￾ Smith said.
