It's official -- Tony Gonzalez will be returning to the Atlanta Falcons in 2013.

Although Gonzalez said earlier this week he'd be putting his retirement plans on hold so he could play another season with the Falcons, he was technically a free agent until agreeing a two-year deal worth $14 million, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

A total of $7 million in guarantees will be paid in the first year of the deal, which includes a second year only for accounting purposes -- it doesn't indicate the tight end will play in 2014.

Gonzalez announced Tuesday he would return for a 17th NFL season after proving in 2012 that he's still one of the top tight ends in the NFL. The Falcons also made accommodations for Gonzalez under the salary cap by releasing veterans Dunta Robinson, John Abraham and Michael Turner.

Why wouldn't he come back? Almost went to the SB, got a top 5 qb in the league, great WR, a new RB, 7 mill doesn't hurt either. Gets more chances to pad a hof career with numbers. Life is good for Tony G.
