Wide receiver Ben Obomanu, whom the Seahawks selected in the seventh round of the 2006 draft, has signed with the New York Jets after six years with Seattle.

The 29-year-old Auburn grad was released by the Seahawks in March. He appeared in eight games in 2012 before going on the injured reserve list for the rest of the season, having caught just four passes for 58 yards.

Obomanu had 494 receiving yards in 2010, when he was the second-leading receiver on the team, and had 436 yards in 2011 when he trailed Doug Baldwin and Sidney Rice. But he never quite made the impact on the gridiron that the Seahawks hoped for when they drafted him in 2006.
