Tim Hightower, the former Redskins running back who was scheduled to make a free-agent visit to the Giants in early April, has rescheduled and is due to arrive in New Jersey for his visit on Wednesday, the Daily News has learned.

The Giants are likely only doing their due diligence on the 26-year-old Hightower, taking a look at the once-promising back who totaled 23 touchdowns in his first three NFL seasons. Hightower hasn’t played in the NFL since he tore his left ACL in Oct., 2011. He will likely take a physical and workout for the Giants.

If he’s healthy, it’s possible he could get an invitation to attend the Giants’ “rookie campâ€￾ on May 10-11, where veterans trying to keep their NFL careers alive often are invited to try out.
