Pete Carroll confirmed Thursday that wide receiver Percy Harvin has undergone surgery on his injured hip.

The Seattle Seahawks coach said the surgery "went well and there's a long rehab coming." But Carroll added the team doesn't have a timetable yet, and Harvin will stay in New York for "a couple weeks."

"We don't have any dates or timeline," Carroll said, "but we'll be optimistic and hope he'll get back as soon as possible and be ready to go, eventually."

Harvin confirmed Tuesday via Twitter that a second opinion in New York led to his decision to undergo surgery on the hip, which had a small tear in the labrum. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that the Seahawks were hopeful Harvin would be back in the lineup by Thanksgiving.
