The Jacksonville Jaguars wasted no time Friday trimming their roster, releasing 21 players a full day ahead of the NFL deadline, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times Union reports.

The Jaguars have 54 players on the roster and they will put receiver Justin Blackmon on the suspended list Saturday to reach the 53-man limit.

The Jaguars might not be done. They plan to be active in the waiver claim process on Sunday.

Before the cuts were announced, coach Gus Bradley said: “We’ll have some new additions. I’m sure we’ll pick up a player or two.â€￾

Twenty-three of the 54 players weren’t with the Jaguars last year and 29 are age 25 or younger, including 11 rookies.
