James Franklin to accept offer to become Penn State coach

    James Franklin is expected to accept an offer Thursday to become coach at Penn State, a source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy.
    Vanderbilt athletic director David Williams, meanwhile, told The Associated Press that Franklin remains coach of the Commodores and was told by Franklin on Thursday that reports were "inaccurate" and that he has not accepted another job offer.

    The 41-year-old Franklin, a Pennsylvania native, has become one of the hottest coaching names due to his success with the Commodores, winning 24 games over the past three seasons leading the team. He has led Vanderbilt to bowl games in all three of his seasons and posted back-to-back bowl victories, both firsts in program history.
