The Detroit Lions will work out free agent defensive tackle Marvin Austin on Monday, according to a report from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

In 2010, Austin was considered one of the top defensive prospects in college football, but he was suspended his senior season for receiving improper benefits.

His draft stock took a hit and he fell to the early parts of the second round in 2011, where he was snatched up by the New York Giants.

Austin's rookie season was derailed after a preseason pectoral tear landed him on injured reserve. He returned in 2012, but registered just eight tackles while playing limited snaps in eight games.
