The Detroit Lions have announced the team has waived/injured safety Don Carey and tight end Nathan Overbay. Carey, a Grand Rapids native, signed with the Lions in October last year after he was cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars prior to the start of the season. Overbay, a 2010 undrafted free agent out of Eastern Washington, had a couple of stints on the Lions practice squad last season. A solid blocking tight end, Overbay injured his ankle in the Friday's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. The releases open up two roster spots, but the Lions have not announced the addition of any new players.
