The National Football League won’t make any changes to the amount of preseason games for at least the next three to five years, NFL.com reports.

The report states it would be difficult to change the amount of games because most new publicly financed stadiums have leases that guarantee at 10 home games and it would take years of legal wrangling to get out of those leases.

The league has had four preseason games since 1978, the same year the regular season expanded to 16 games.

The NFL has been looking at different ways to split the amount of regular-season and preseason games and it was reported last month the league was not happy about the quality of preseason games. The league will “examine the 2013 preseason games to see what can be improved in hopes of offering a better product in the future.â€￾
