Osi Umenyiora on Simeon Rice: 'There's Nowhere for Him to Play'

If Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora was in charge, free agent Simeon Rice would not be visiting the team tomorrow.

"What position is he going to play over here? Left defensive end? He's not a run player," Umenyiora said. "Everybody knows he's not a run defensive player and that's where they run the football at. The only other option would be to move me over there and I'm not moving over there. There's nowhere for him to play unless he's going to be a linebacker or something."

While Umenyiora has a valid point, I have to wonder what happened to the gag order Tom Coughlin put on his team. I thought they were supposed to be focusing on football, not outside affairs?

Either way, Umenyiora is right in that the Giants don't have a place for Rice. He has struggled against the run over the course of his career and it would be foolish of the Giants to move another player out of their regular position; be it Umenyiora or Rice.

At the same time, the Giants seem to be in a bit of a bind thanks to Michael Strahan. They have to do something and their options are running thin.

Almost hate to admit it if you're a Giants (or Simeon Rice) fan... but he's right. Rice's skills aren't getting better anytime soon- he's kinda becoming a pass-rush specialist that should only come in on 3rd and longs so he can rush the QB.

Heard on the NFL Network a little while ago that the Rams are now interested in Rice.
