The Green Bay Packers have cut their losses with former first-round pick Derek Sherrod, Weston Hodkiewicz of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.

The 6-foot-6, 321-pound tackle was released on Monday to make room for JC Tretter, who was activated from temporary injured reserve. Sherrod, the 32nd pick in 2011, played in 20 games with one start in his four NFL seasons, most of which came on field-goal and extra-point units.

Sherrod's career was sidetracked early after he suffered a twice-broken leg injury near the end of his rookie season in 2011. He missed the entire 2012 season and didn't return until midway through last season.
