According to a league source, Carolina agreed to a one-year deal with WR Domenik Hixon on Wednesday, the Observer's Joe Person reports.

Hixon caught 39 balls for 567 yards and two touchdowns last year. He'll immediately enter training camp as the team's third wide receiver behind veteran Steve Smith and Brandon LaFell.

Hixon was also talking with Cleveland and Oakland before deciding to go with the Panthers, who had hosted him Monday and Tuesday but ended his visit without getting a deal done.

After spending five years with the New York Giants, Hixon is familiar with Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman, who was an executive with the Giants for a decade and a half before coming to Carolina.
