Defensive tackle Dwan Edwards will re-sign with the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Observer beat writer Joe Person reports. The 31-year-old defensive tackle set a career high in sacks with the Panthers last season with six while recording 27 tackles.

Edwards joined the Panthers last season after being cut by the Buffalo Bills, agreeing to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million. The six sacks Edwards tallied last season was the highest by any defensive tackle since Kris Jenkins had seven sacks in 2002. Edwards visited with the Miami Dolphins earlier in the week before agreeing to return to Carolina.
