Raiders first-round draft pick D.J. Hayden has been released from the hospital after undergoing surgery to remove scar tissue from his abdominal region.

The team said Wednesday that Hayden is home resting after the operation conducted last week and that he is not expected back on the field until training camp in late July.

Hayden had surgery last November to repair a tear of the inferior vena cava, the large vein that carries blood from the lower half of the body to the heart after having a collision at practice with a Houston teammate. Doctors had to cut through Hayden's sternum to save him.

Raiders doctors cleared Hayden and the team selected him 12th overall in last month's draft.
