Punter Shane Lechler, whose average of 45.7 yards per punt is the highest in NFL history, will visit the Houston Texans Thursday, the Houston Chronicle reported. The seven-time Pro Bowler was a high school star as a quarterback and punter and played in college at Texas A&M. If Lechler leaves, he would be the seventh of 17 unrestricted free agents to find work elsewhere, joining Philip Wheeler (Dolphins), Desmond Bryant (Browns), Brandon Myers (Giants), Mike Goodson (Jets), Mike Mitchell (Panthers) and Matt Shaughnessy (Cardinals). Lechler, 36, had a 39.0 net punting average in 2012, his lowest since 2006, after having pre-training camp surgery on his plant leg.
