The St. Louis Rams have released center Jason Brown and veteran defensive tackles Fred Robbins and Justin Bannan, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. St. Louis made Brown the highest-paid center in 2009, signing the free agent to a five-year, $35.2 million contract when free agency opened up, Brown has started all 46 games he's been active for the Rams, but was moved to guard midway through the season. Brown had two years and $15 million remaining on his contract and his release clears $2.8 million in salary cap space, Robbins, 34, joined the Rams in 2010, signing a three-year contract to reunite with his former New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. St. Louis signed Bannan to a three-year, $8.5 million contract after he released by the Denver Broncos following the lockout, Bannan made 31 tackles in 15 games for the Rams. Like Robbins, Bannan did not receive a signing bonus, so his $2.75 million base salary for the season will come off the team's salary cap.
