Scheduled to become a restricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2012 season, Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta picked a good season to post the best stat line of his three-year career.

Less than 24 hours before the start of the free agent frenzy, the Ravens picked as good a time as any to hit Pitta with a second-round tender.

Per Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the tender comes with a price tag of $2.023 million for the 2013 season, should Pitta sign his name on the dotted line. Any team in the NFL is now eligible to hand the BYU product an offer sheet, which would then provide the Ravens with an opportunity to match the deal. Should the Ravens decline in such a scenario, Baltimore would then be compensated with a draft pick.
