Ryane Clowe is hopping across the river.

Clowe, who spent time with the New York Rangers last season, signed a five-year contract with the New Jersey Devils on Friday, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun. The deal is worth $4.85 million per year, the source added.

A source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com's Katie Strang that Clowe had interest in re-signing with the Rangers, though the team's lack of cap space once it decided not to buy out veteran center Brad Richards made the issue moot.

Clowe was limited to just two playoff games with New York because of a suspected concussion.
