Seahawks Place Their Franchise Tag On PK Olindo Mare

Discussion in 'Seattle Seahawks' started by BigBlueBruiser, Feb 24, 2010.

  1. The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly placed the franchise tag on placekicker Olindo Mare with less than 24 hours until the deadline to apply tags arrives. He will turn 37 in June, but as kickers have proven they can be effective into their 40's. Mare will earn $2.814 million this season if a longterm extension is not worked out.

What the hell is this all about? He had a terrible year and there were reports that he was close to being cut in the middle of the year.

he didn't have a terrible year. he was 22-of-24. but he missed two important ones.

However, I thoroughly disagree with this decision, as I believe Rich Eisen is wrong and that Kickers are not people too.
