In what is no surprise, the Seahawks have released quarterback Brady Quinn, meaning the team will keep just two QBs, with Tarvaris Jackson the backup to starter Russell Wilson.

Quinn was signed in April to be the backup QB to Wilson after the trade of Matt Flynn to Oakland.

But the team then signed Jackson — the starter in 2011 and a respected leader in the locker room — after he was released by Buffalo in June.

Many regarded it as a foregone conclusion that Jackson would win the backup QB job, though coach Pete Carroll insisted there was open competition.

If there was, however, Jackson undoubtedly won it as he finished the exhibition season with a quarterback rating of 131.4, best in the NFL, throwing for three touchdowns and no interceptions.
