The Seattle Seahawks were prepared to select Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen with the 14th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports. "Heard the Seahawks were definitely going to take Clausen at 14 but they were stunned Earl Thomas was still there. Couldn't pass him up.", Bedard posted on Twitter. Despite being considered one of the most NFL-ready quarterbacks available in this year's draft class, Clausen has slid out of the first round, as only Oklahoma's Sam Bradford (St. Louis) and Florida's Tim Tebow (Denver) were chosen among the first 32 selections.

I'd have preferred Clausen, but we should have traded up from 60 to nab him.

Man, that would have been awesome. I love Golden Tate and all, but Jimmy Clausen instead would have pushed me over the edge.

In fact, forget the "instead". I said during the draft I'd give up our 2011 1st rounder to jump up to the 33-35 range and take him there.

    Okung, Thomas, Clausen, Tate.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
