Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum’s public support for Mark Sanchez in the past few weeks came with the provision that they wouldn’t definitively close the door on any possible future opportunities to upgrade at quarterback. Now we know why. The Daily News has learned that the Jets have inquired about Peyton Manning’s interest in them. It’s unknown at this point whether Manning, who will turn 36 later this month, would be want to play for Gang Green. A source admitted that there were “mixed feelings†whether to aggressively pursue Manning or allow Sanchez an opportunity to work with new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano.
