Seven-time Pro Bowl punter Shane Lechler has agreed to terms with the Houston Texans, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday.

Lechler, 36, is the NFL’s all-time leader in gross punting average at 45.7, and last season completed a four-year contract that paid him $16 million.

After a season during which Lechler had stats which would be good for any other punter but were sub-par for him, the Raiders seemed resigned to losing the man Al Davis drafted in the fifth round of the 2000 draft.

The likely replacement for Lechler is Marquette King, who injured a foot in a weight-room accident just before the regular season and was kept on the practice squad all season in anticipation of needing a new punter.
