Texans outside linebacker Brian Cushing retained his Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year Award on Wednesday. Cushing kept the award despite being suspended four games last week for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. A panel of 50 writers and broadcasters who cover the league made the decision in an unprecedented revote that concluded at 11 a.m. Wednesday. In the revote, Cushing received 18 votes to finish ahead of Buffalo safety Jairus Byrd (13). In the original voting at the end of the season, Cushing was a landslide winner with 39 of the 50 votes and Byrd was second with six votes.

The AP is such a joke .... How's Orakpo get 2 votes in the original vote and then 3 this time yet Adam Schein and John Czarnecki admit they switched from Cushing to Orakpo. Just shows these writers don't take it seriously by either switching votes or not voting...one of them being Chris Mortensen...

And that has just proven that American Society just doesn't give a crap if someone cheats or not. 18 voters dropped the ball on this one.

its not cheating, and it wasnt even proved he did steroids, 18 voters did the right thing

Putting substances that improve the physical state is cheating. Whilst it wasn't proven he was using steroids, it was proven that he was using a substance that is commonly used after a course of them.

For me, enhancing one's performance is far worse than someone recording the signals of an opponent. If that's considered cheating, then this is deffo cheating.

creatine and protein and a million other supplements that athletes use are technically "performance enhancing" i guess its a fine line. lifting weights can enhance your performance too, maybe they should monitor how long these guys spend in the gym..i understand theres a difference between steroids and protein shakes but the idea of being the best athlete is to enhance your performance, if your a pourn star that cant get it up, you take viagra.

id rather lie, cheat and steal my way to the top of anything rather than work hard, judge me i guess

I guess it just depends on how flimsy your morals are and whether or not you watch the sport for the entertainment above the competitive nature.

The real test would be if the Steelers lost in the SB and find out the SBMVP was juicing. I'd be surprised if your stance wouldn't change.

no, im pretty pro steroids and that wont change regardless...id be freaking pissed but i have way to much documentation on the internet of me being pro steroids.

you dont think roids would make the league more competitive and entertaining? i do, and i might have little to no morals....im over it
